The drive there alone makes the trip worthwhile—winding through rugged mountains, past crystal-clear rivers, and through some of the most dramatic landscapes Ladakh has to offer. While foreigners aren’t allowed inside the actual army base, just being at the checkpoint and seeing the surroundings was worth it. The sheer scale of the Himalayas here is humbling, and knowing you’re standing at one of the world’s highest and most remote battlefields gives you chills—both from the history and the cold.
