#Aurora Conditions for the Aurora to appear in Iceland The best time to observe the Aurora in Iceland is generally from September to April of the following year, and this period is usually called the "Aurora season". During this time, the nights in Iceland are getting longer and the skies are getting darker, providing perfect conditions for observing the aurora. Iceland also has cooler nighttime temperatures, which helps reduce atmospheric interference and makes the aurora clearer and brighter. We went to Iceland in March via the Netherlands. We then joined an 8-day tour around the island. We visited scenic spots in the morning and afternoon and watched the Northern Lights in the evening. Fortunately, we saw the Northern Lights 4 out of 8 nights. Because Iceland has an oceanic climate, it is relatively cloudy and the chance of seeing the Northern Lights is relatively low.
