Easy way to see sequoias
There are many places where you can see Sequoias in California. Due to the weather and the fact that we had a 3yo kid with us, we went to Redwood national Park cause of its location and amenities. And it was a perfect choice for a day trip to see those majestic trees.
It is an easy drive. There is a convenient parking lot and most pathways are well maintained, so it was possible to cross and walk around even on a rainy day. There were quite a few parents with small kids - most broadwalks were wide enough for a stroller.
There is a cafe and a gift shoo at the park. But the waiting line to get some coffee was very long, so I would advise to bring snacks and beverages to save some time.

🌲 Discovering Sequoia National Park
Sequoia National Park is located in southern California, home to the world's largest trees, General Sherman, standing at 80 meters tall and living for over 3000 years! Imagine, while our ancestors were in the Bronze Age 3000 years ago, this giant tree was already towering here! Isn't that super impressive? 😲 This place is definitely a paradise for friends who love hiking, camping, and exploring!
☁️ Tips for Visiting in Autumn and Winter
1️⃣ If you come in November or December, there is almost no snow, but the temperature will be very low! Remember to dress warmly! 🧣🧤
2️⃣ The mountain roads here are winding, so you need to have good driving skills! Beginners, please be extra careful! 🚗
3️⃣ Vehicle choice: Four-wheel drive vehicles have no problem. For two-wheel drive vehicles, the park requires snow chains to be prepared in the car.
4️⃣ About snow chains: There are places to rent snow chains in the nearby town of Three Rivers, but the price is not cheap, 50 dollars a day! It is recommended that friends rent or buy a set in advance elsewhere to save money and hassle! 💰
🏃 Must-Visit Attractions
Sequoia National Park is divided into the southeastern Gerneral Sherman Tree area and the northwestern Kings Canyon area.
Southeast attractions recommended:
- General Sherman Tree: A must-visit! There are also many great trails around to explore and see other unique giant sequoias.
- Crescent Meadow
- Moro Rock: Highly recommended! It is suggested to go before sunset for a breathtakingly beautiful sunset.
- Tunnel Log & Tunnel Rock: Popular photo spots, don't miss out!

🌳The scenery here is breathtakingly beautiful. The redwood trees are thick and robust, with lush branches and leaves. The sunlight filters through the treetops, casting mottled shadows on the ground. The air is filled with the fresh scent of grass and trees, making one feel as if they are in a natural oxygen bar.

🌿Besides the redwoods, there are many other natural landscapes worth exploring here. Clear streams, dense forests, and peculiar rocks... every spot is full of surprises and emotions.

Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park was fabulous! It was easy to get to and had plenty of parking. The trail was short enough to be a good thing and a long enough trail to really feel the forest. Our kids loved seeing the fallen trees as well as those super tall, still standing, giants. I think to younger kids, the size of the trunks is most impressive because all trees look tall for them. It was a smooth and wide path with not many people.
