The Japanese-era buildings surrounded by pine trees have a unique charm

Pine Garden Villa is a designated place for tourists visiting Hualien. It is conveniently located in the city center, and the NT$60 ticket price can be used to offset consumption within the villa. Pine Garden Villa is hidden in a dense pine forest, with more than 30 pine trees, all of which are over 100 years old. Pine Garden Villa is a two-story imitation Western-style arcade building. Since the war had already started when it was built, the exterior is simple, with emphasis on solidity and practicality. The exterior walls are original concrete with emerald green vines climbing on the walls. There are European-style arcades on the first and second floors, but the roof uses Japanese tiles. The architectural style that combines the East and the West is very distinctive, and it is also the only remaining complete military building from the Japanese occupation era in Hualien County. The annex directly faces the Meilun River estuary on the Pacific Park (North Coast Section) beach, overlooking Hualien Harbor and the Pacific Ocean.
