Admiring the scenic Lakeside Great Wall

#familytrips2024 I have been to Mutianyu Great Wall before, and this year I am fortunate enough to have a chance to visit another part of this gorgeous construction with my family. We got invited to joined a group tour to the Lakeside Great Wall. The journey was about 2 hours drive from China World Trade Center Beijing. We arrived Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall around 9.30am. The view when we get nearer was breathtaking, with colourful flowers blooming everywhere. Once arrived, we were ushered to a tunnel and walk to the jetty for a short 5mins boat ride. The beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains and floral make the whole ride feel so graceful and magical. We crossed wooden bridges, hilly path, rainbow stride walkway, botanical gardens, witnessing a 800 year old ancient tree, what else can we ask for for such enjoyment. We also come across a hanging glass bridge before hiking up the Great Wall. The hike on this path is not too challenging but you still need some stamina and physical strength. The beautiful view and cool air helps to distract you from the exhaustion. It could be a bit tiring for those who don't exercise regularly but the experience along the way is definitely worth it.
