Many people think of Dongmen as just a place to buy clothes, but I believe that's the essence of Shenzhen. Here lies Shenzhen's first McDonald's, once the battleground for 'venturing into the sea' of the 'drifters' of the 70s and 80s, and the starting point for many to build their dreams from nothing. Of course, Dongmen is not just about clothing, nor is it limited to the pedestrian street; it is a commercial area composed of many large shopping malls centered around the pedestrian street. Old Street is always crowded, and every photo is full of people, with internet celebrities live streaming, tourists, snacks, gold, clothes, shoes, both high-end and affordable.
