Vietnamese vegetarian meal that failed

The manager and waiter at this Vietnamese restaurant located in Another Town said they could cook vegetarian dishes. Without saying anything, they came in with their friends to try it. 🫢 Last time I heard from a friend that it is possible to have vegetarian dishes, including onion, garlic and fish sauce, so this time we selected a few vegetable dishes at the dining table and advised the waiter who ordered to go without onion and garlic and fish sauce, indicating in advance that we are vegetarian.
