#HolidayGood Places #Aberdeen #Hong Kong History and Culture #Hong Kong Island #Local Tour #Summer Good Places #Seaside Good Places #Sea View #Unparalleled Sea View Hello everyone, in this episode my 🐷 dad introduces the remaining memories of 2023 Seeing the photos 🥹, you know that the Reminiscence Jumbo Seafood Boat Pier is still so attractive? Tell the story of the jewel The history of Jumbo Kingdom can be traced back to Hong Kong in the 1920s. It was originally a restaurant opened by Hong Kong watermen, only accepting reservations for banquets. Later, it was welcomed by businessmen who ran north and south lines and gradually opened to the public. Chai Siu-jun, senior editor of the Hong Kong Local Chronicle Centre, has studied the origin of Hong Kong's seafood boats. He believes that its predecessor was the "Getang boat" originating from Guangzhou and the Pearl River. The Ether White Seafood Boat in the Jumbo Kingdom has the oldest history, being built in 1950 and initially located at the location of Aberdeen Seaside Road and Aberdeen Waterfront Park near Hunan Street. In the heyday of the 1950s, more than 10 seafood boats were anchored at the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter, of which the Taibai Seafood boat was the largest. It was invested by businessman Yuen Yong, who originally ran the Da Scene Restaurant (the current location of Kung Kee) in Wellington Street in Central. Construction started at the Chinese Shipyard in Yau Tong Bay, Kowloon, in September 1970. The hull works were completed in early 1971, and internal renovations began. As Wong Lao Kee was unable to reinvest, Stanley Ho and Cheung Yu-tung jointly bought the property of Jumbo Seafood in July 1972. The following month, the authorities approved the reconstruction, and in January 1975, renovation works began. The new Jumbo Seafood Boat, costing more than HK$30 million, was officially completed and opened for business on October 19, 1976 Since 2013, Jumbo Kingdom has been unable to make ends meet and continues to lose money. In 2019, the food and tourism industry has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic Two seafood boats anchored in Shen Wan have been closed since March 2020 due to the spread of the 2019 coronavirus disease epidemic in Hong Kong. The larger Jumbo Seafood boat was donated to Ocean Park in November 2020. Ocean Park informed at the end of 2021 that it could not find a suitable third-party organization to operate and could not implement the donation plan of the administrative report. The maritime license expired in June 2022 and it was decided to move out of Hong Kong. It set sail on June 14 and left the port on June 18 afternoon.
