She knew this Japanese izakaya in North Point had cute cat drawings on the walls, so she invited me to dine there. The food was reasonably priced. We ordered five dishes and all-you-can-drink drinks. The stir-fried beef tongue with scallions (👅) bowl combined a rich beef aroma with a sweet and savory sauce and the spicy flavor of scallions. The beef tongue was tender and rich in fat. The mirin dried fish was slightly sweet with a savory flavor. The mirin, with its sweet and alcoholic notes, further accentuated the sweetness of the dried fish. The dried fish was crispy and perfect as a snack with drinks. The chicken skin dumplings (🥟) used chicken skin instead of traditional dumpling wrappers. After being deep-fried, the outer skin was crispy and had a rich aroma of chicken fat. The filling was generous and juicy. The overall texture was complex and layered. The mysterious tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a subtle bean flavor. The Kagoshima A4 Wagyu sukiyaki was tender with even marbling. The hot pot is packed with ingredients, including beef, tofu, onions, shiitake mushrooms, scallions, and fresh shiitake mushrooms. It also comes with chewy udon noodles. The sukiyaki sauce is a perfect balance of salty and sweet, and the addition of a raw egg helps to neutralize the saltiness. The 120-minute all-you-can-drink buffet offers a variety of draft beer, whiskey, shochu, sake, plum wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. A few drinks and you'll easily get your money's worth. I found this restaurant to be quite good value, and I noticed they recently added a new menu.
