Hong Kong Foodie Adventure 2: The Palate, Sha Tin

Tonight, I visited The Palate at the Royal Park Hotel in New Town Plaza, Sha Tin, for a buffet. The first time I tried it was when a colleague brought me here. Initially, I thought spending over HK$400 would only get me an average meal, but to my surprise, the value for money was incredible! This time, it was my turn to bring friends along for a feast 😎. The restaurant is usually fully booked on weekday evenings, so make sure to reserve a table in advance. 🦞 Seafood & Sashimi Section The seafood selection is abundant, featuring plenty of crab legs, mussels, and cooked shrimp—no need to fight over them. The crab legs are fresh and sweet, while the lobsters are large, meaty, and full of roe—eating just a few makes it worth the price. The oysters are freshly shucked, with a sweet flavor that pairs perfectly with a squeeze of lemon juice for added freshness. As for sashimi, the salmon is rich and fatty, the snapper slices are thick, and the sweet shrimp is packed with flavorful shrimp paste. 🥩 Live Cooking Meat Section The freshly carved roast beef is tender and pairs wonderfully with gravy. The teppanyaki Saga Wagyu beef is smooth and aromatic with a hint of fat, enhanced by garlic slices and green onions for extra flavor. A must-try is the teppanyaki cheese hamburger steak, with melted cheese and the aroma of onions complementing the juicy and flavorful patty—absolutely delicious! Don’t miss the foie gras toast, which is rich and indulgent; you’ll want at least one slice. 🍲 Soup After indulging in the rich dishes, I recommend having some soup to cleanse your palate. The wolfberry chicken soup served in ceramic bowls is light, sweet, and comforting. 🍽️ Hot Dishes Although the hot dishes aren’t the main attraction, it’s clear the hotel has carefully curated the menu. There’s a variety of international dishes, including Japanese oden and Nyonya curry, offering diverse flavors. 🍮 Desserts The dessert section features various cakes and puddings. My favorite is the freshly baked molten lava cake, which you can even ask the chef to decorate with a personalized message in syrup—such a thoughtful touch! And of course, I had to finish with a cup of Mövenpick ice cream. My friends were amazed that they could enjoy such a high-quality buffet in Hong Kong for just over HK$400.
