Below is a hiking guide: Route Options • Classic Route: Start from Shatin Pass Road and follow Section 5 of the MacLehose Trail. This route spans approximately 8 kilometers and takes about 5 hours to complete. It is relatively challenging, passing through areas such as Shatin Pass, Chicken Breast Hill, Beacon Hill, Lion Rock, and Eagle's Nest Hill. The terrain is varied, including mountain paths and rocky slopes. At Shatin Pass, there are small shops offering cold drinks and hot food, and several pavilions along the way for rest stops. • Easier Route: For beginners, opt for Section 5 of the Wilson Trail. This route is 7.4 kilometers long and takes about 2.5 hours to walk. Most of the path is flat, with the initial Twelve Fathoms Village section and the descent to Hung Mui Kuk Catchwater being relatively level. The rest consists of downhill slopes. From the ridge near Twelve Fathoms Village, you can enjoy panoramic views of Tai Wai and Shatin. Transportation Guide Take a taxi from Wong Tai Sin or Diamond Hill MTR stations to the starting point of Section 5 of the MacLehose Trail at Shatin Pass Road (Lion Pavilion).
