10-meter-long, 7-meter-high inflatable panda art installation debuts in Hong Kong

Calling all panda fans! Zhao Bandai, one of the nation's pioneering figures in avant-garde art, is internationally renowned for his cross-media art. His series of paintings, videos, and performance art centered around the "panda" theme are truly unique creations in the art world! The large-scale public art installation "Ready to Go" makes its Hong Kong debut this early summer. The 10-meter-long, 7-meter-high inflatable panda is posed at the starting line, limbs spread wide as it looks around, its expression revealing a determined drive to move forward. The Hong Kong stop also breaks new ground by incorporating optical illusion art to create a stunning, colorful abyss. Accompanied by the panda, visitors break through a perilous domain and venture into the floating colorful stone pillars. Curator Du Xiyun points out, "This optical illusion art concept perfectly echoes the creative philosophy of 'Ready to Go.' In an environment full of opportunities and challenges, maintaining a 'ready to go' mindset, calmly embracing and actively facing them, is the key to overcoming difficulties." In addition, the creator specially used inflatable materials to present the soft and adorable giant panda installation "Ready to Go," creating a striking yet harmonious visual contrast with the three-dimensional geometric origami art. "Ready to Go" not only fully embodies the fusion of classical aesthetics and a unique contemporary artistic perspective but also embraces the diversity of nature! The seemingly static art installation interacts with the over 11 meters wide by 7 meters deep optical illusion floor painting, producing a magical synergy that breathes life into the work. Together, under the majestic giant panda art installation, they create an almost lifelike optical illusion masterpiece! In collaboration with the Hong Kong Origami Association, exclusively showcasing 15 three-dimensional eco-friendly origami pandas To add diverse artistic elements, the mall invited a five-person production team led by Chen Boxi, founder of the Hong Kong Origami Association. The team includes students with special learning disabilities, grassroots students, and transitional housing residents. They created the "Panda Invasion! 3D Origami Cute Panda Exhibition" themed around "Panda Daily Life," hoping to share the importance of green living and wild panda conservation through the exhibition. The team carefully designed and produced five adorable panda life poses, each carrying different meanings: "Big Mouth Chewing Bamboo Leaves" represents abundance, "Curious Looking Up" symbolizes being ready to go, and "Waving Panda" signifies attracting wealth and good luck. These pandas are hidden among iconic buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbour and are illuminated with soft lights every night, recreating the internationally famous dazzling night scene. The materials used are FSC™ Forest Stewardship Council certified eco-friendly paper. Using intricate multi-faceted cutting origami techniques, they crafted a total of 15 three-dimensional origami pandas, each 30 centimeters tall. Each panda has over 500 cutting surfaces, and the entire production took nearly 200 hours.
