Rich Semi-Buffet Dinner

Last Saturday, I had an early finish at work, so I went for a semi-buffet dinner with friends! Usually, semi-buffet dinners don't offer much variety, but this one had a surprisingly good selection and the quality was quite impressive. We went to the lobby café at the Hennessy Hotel, which just opened this year, and it was my first time there! The place is quite spacious with well-separated seating, making it a comfortable dining experience. As soon as we entered, there was a self-service beverage area with hot water, iced tea, and a coffee machine. You can help yourself to whatever you like. Further in, there was an appetizer and salad bar with a variety of salads, appetizers, sushi, hot dishes, bread, and soup. On the other side, there was a clean and tidy open kitchen! If you order a main course, the chef will cook it for you on the spot. This area can be called the seafood section, starting with sesame shrimp as an appetizer, followed by four types of chilled seafood. Just seeing the snow crab legs made it worth the price. For dim sum lovers, there are options like large siu mai, pan-fried buns, and Malay cake, all of which were excellent. The dessert section didn't have a huge variety, but the quality was quite good! Additionally, there was unlimited ice cream from a popular brand, with five flavors to choose from, so you can eat as much as you want. My friends and I happily filled our table with food from the buffet area and enjoyed a great meal together. Being food enthusiasts, we had to try the main courses as well! I love beef, so I added $150 for the grilled Australian beef tenderloin. I ordered it medium, and although it was slightly overcooked, it was still tender and flavorful, paired with fresh grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes, making it a very refined dish. My wife had the grilled Vietnamese lemongrass pork neck! The pork neck was as thick as a pork chop and very satisfying. She gave me a piece to try, and it was incredibly tender and delicious. Her meal also came with a bowl of rice, making it quite filling. This semi-buffet dinner is only $318 per person! If you download the Hennessy Hotel app, you can get a 15% discount, making it even more worth it.
