2024 Hong Kong Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Known for being a world-class center of business, culture, and trade, Hong Kong is a jewel in the orient with international flairs. Its iconic skyline, dynamic food scene and multicultural influences attract over 65 million tourists each year. For many, Hong Kong is also a starting point for visiting China and the rest of Asia.Officially the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong is located on the south coast of China, neighboring Guangzhou Province. It is made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, and the New Territories (including more than 250 outlying islands). Ranked as the 8th most densely populated city in the world, Hong Kong’s population is made up of mainly Chinese residents. But it is also an international hub of commerce where English and Cantonese are the official languages.Hong Kong wouldn’t be what it is today without its complex past. Though it has existed for thousands of years, in as little as 100 years, Hong Kong went through dramatic transformations from a fishing community in China to a British colony to an international trade center, and eventually back to being part of China again.Like its dense population, Hong Kong has also packed in a tremendous amount of attractions. For example, you can visit one of the city's oldest temples, Man Mo Temple; ride on the Peak Tram for a bird’s eye view of Victoria Harbor; or immerse yourself in the electric atmosphere of Temple Street Night Market. Beyond the urban hustle and bustle, there’s a serene side to Hong Kong. Chill out on the beach in the Sai Kung East Country Park, enjoy a challenging hike on Lantau island’s many trekking trails, or do a little wildlife spotting in Plover Cove Country Park. The most common way to reach Hong Kong is by air. The Hong Kong International Airport has connecting flights to all major domestic and international cities. Visitors can easily find transfer options into different parts of HK, such as taxis, Airport Express trains, and buses. Some hotels offer transfer options too, so it is better to check in advance. Getting around town is also simple and convenient. Visitors can easily reach top attractions by using the extensive and affordable MRT, bus and tram systems.

Hong Kong's First Large-Scale Fresh Seafood Hotpot Buffet
My boss took me to eat seafood. We haven't been to the Taikoo Shing mall for a long time, and it has really changed a lot. The fresh seafood just opened yesterday, and my boss said it's a great deal. We had to try it right away while they are offering discounts. 😁
Fresh Seafood Hotpot Buffet
Lunch 12:00-16:00 · All-you-can-eat for 4 hours $248
Dinner after 17:00 · All-you-can-eat for 2 hours $268 and up
We came in the evening, and there were quite a few people. The place is spacious and looks very clean. No need to wait for a table. Right at the entrance, there's fresh seafood. The shrimps are all jumping and very fresh. The abalone sticks tightly and can still move when picked up. There are also super fresh oysters. 🦪
More than 10 types of fresh seafood to choose from. Besides the self-service area, you can order over 40 types of meat, snacks, skewers, durian, and more via QR code.
It's so easy to get your money's worth. At this price, there's no need to go all the way to mainland China for seafood. 😆

A Must-Visit: Hong Kong International Airport
📍Address: 1 Cheong Tat Road, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong
🕰️Operating Hours: 24 hours
🏖️Environment/Facilities: The airport is well-equipped with comprehensive facilities
Due to travel, I visited Hong Kong International Airport again. The facilities are very complete, and the efficiency is top-notch, reaching international standards. It is one of the best airports. Most passengers in the airport are in a hurry, but if time permits, you can arrive early and take a stroll around the airport. Besides numerous well-known brand stores and restaurants, you can also relax in the airport lounges or visit several observation decks to watch the planes take off and land multiple times. The experience is quite enjoyable.
The Longest Cable Car in Hong Kong and the Giant Buddha Attraction
Giant Buddha in Hong Kong
📍 Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car
Ngong Ping Village, which you can reach after a 20-minute cable car ride, is a wonderful place with a giant bronze Buddha.
You can capture the stairs leading to the Buddha and the magnificent Buddha itself in one frame. For those who want to experience a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, unlike the bustling and noisy city center of Hong Kong, this is a great place to visit.
The most worth visiting seaside park in the New Territories.
Tai Po Waterfront Park is located northeast of Tai Po Market Station. It was completed and opened in 1997, covering an area of about 22 hectares, making it the largest park in Hong Kong. The main facilities include a 1,200-meter-long waterfront promenade, a Reunification Monument, a viewing platform, an open-air theater, a lawn bowling green, a jogging track, an insect house, a natural ecological garden, a Western-style garden, a model boat pool, a kite flying area, and a cycling path. The Reunification Monument in the park was built to commemorate the return of Hong Kong. During the day, you can climb to the top via the spiral staircase to enjoy the waterfront scenery of Tai Po. Here, you can enjoy flowers, take photos, fly kites, observe insects (in the insect house), play with electric boats, blow bubbles, stroll through the camellia garden, making it an ideal place for picnics and walks.
The King of Cost-Effective Hotels in Causeway Bay
Address - Cheung Wo Lane, Canal Road West, Causeway Bay
Environment/Facilities - High floors offer views of the racecourse
Features - Convenient location
Average Price - $250/person
Rating - 7.5/10
The hotel is well-located with easy access to various places. It's close to the MTR station and local markets, and it's a short walk to Times Square and other shopping areas. The front desk staff are polite and provide good service. The rooms are elegantly decorated, well-equipped, and clean. The room I stayed in was on a high floor with a beautiful view overlooking Happy Valley. For the price of a three-star hotel, you get the experience of a four-star hotel. Overall, the cost-performance ratio is quite high.

Fall in love with the blue hour at Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong.
In the blue hour of Hong Kong, I am willing to engrave its endless romance in my heart, becoming an eternal memory.
The charm of Hong Kong lies in the fact that every scene can touch your heartstrings—
Whether it is the modern skyscrapers,
The 360-degree magnificent sea view,
Or the alleys full of life hidden behind the prosperity,
Every encounter is a surprise to the soul.
Pick up the camera, and every inch of Hong Kong seems to whisper,
Inviting me to capture and record the city's hundreds of romantic styles.
Use the delicate texture of Fujifilm to capture the vivid moments of this city.
Recommended photo spots:
- **Central Ferris Wheel**:
Stand at Pier 9/10, and the panoramic view is in full view, as if you are in a movie, extremely romantic.
- **Fujifilm Ice Cream Truck under the Ferris Wheel**:
Take a photo with this retro ice cream truck, no need for too much retouching, the texture of the blockbuster is immediately presented, full of retro style.
- **Central Market**:
Turn around and look at the modern high-rise buildings behind you, and the street style of Hong Kong in the 1990s leaps in front of you, as if traveling through time and space.
- **Victoria Harbour**:
This is the best place to enjoy the sea view. When night falls, the lights come on, and the cruise ships shuttle between them. The blue tone of the day and the brilliance of the night complement each other, each with its own merits.
Photography tips:
1. Near dusk, turn on the flash to shoot, and the blue tone effect will be immediately presented, which is stunningly beautiful.
2. Choose warm-colored lights as the background, which contrasts sharply with the blue, adding a sense of layering to the picture.
3. The blue hour is short, remember to prepare lighting equipment in advance, so as not to miss this rare romantic moment.

Tsim Sha Tsui Atmosphere Music Bar: Enjoy Brunch and High-Quality Coffee.
I used to frequent this music restaurant when it was located in Tai Kok Tsui. Now that it's opened in Tsim Sha Tsui's K11, it's even more convenient, so I had to check it out. The restaurant features DJ sessions or live music performances from Thursday to Sunday nights, perfect for music lovers.
Although we visited during lunchtime and there was no live music, the restaurant's ambiance was still very comfortable, making it ideal for a quiet date or a gathering with friends. Their Brunch & Lunch menu is very affordable, offering a main course of your choice along with soup or salad, and you can also add appetizers and desserts.
Lost Star All Day Breakfast $138
The all-day breakfast is very hearty, featuring a choice of one main dish out of four options, along with compressed caviar milk scrambled eggs, baked apples, roasted potatoes, English baked beans, garden salad, French creamy baked potatoes, and a mini croissant. We chose the slow-cooked American chicken breast, which was tender and rich in protein. The scrambled eggs were also very creamy and smooth.
Grilled New Zealand Ribeye (8oz) $188
We also ordered the ribeye steak, which was flavorful and tender, with a juicy pink center that wasn't overdone. The side dishes included roasted pumpkin and sweet potatoes.
Buffalo Wings (3 pieces) +$38
We added Buffalo wings, and the sauce was deliciously spicy.
Matcha Affogato +$38
Of course, we had to try the dessert. The Matcha Affogato was beautifully presented, featuring rich matcha paired with vanilla ice cream, offering a sweet and slightly bitter taste.
Mocha $52
My friend ordered a mocha, which came in a beautiful cup. The coffee was rich and smooth with a delightful chocolate flavor.

Big Wave Bay Beach
#wellnesstravel
Big Wave Bay is the perfect end to the Dragon’s Back hike or a standalone beach day destination. Known for its surfing scene, the beach offers a laid-back vibe, clear waters, and scenic cliffs. But if you don’t feel like hiking, and want to maximise rest time on the beautiful white sand, you can take a bus directly there!
Travel tip: Rent a surfboard from the nearby shops if you’re feeling adventurous, or just enjoy lounging on the sandy shores. It’s less crowded than other beaches in Hong Kong, making it ideal for a relaxing escape. There are a few local eateries where you can grab a snack or a cold drink after your day in the sun.

High Value-for-Money Southeast Asian Cuisine, Signature Laksa is My Favorite.
Restaurant: Kaya (Sha Tin)
Address: Shop 3008-3009, 3/F, Lucky Plaza, 1-15 Wang Pok Street, Sha Tin
Kaya has four branches in Hong Kong, located in Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O, North Point, and Sha Tin. As the name suggests, they specialize in Singaporean cuisine 🇸🇬, aiming to bring the authentic flavors of Southeast Asia to Hong Kong, offering traditional tastes with great value.
The Sha Tin Lucky Plaza branch has been open for nearly a year. The booth-style seating design makes it particularly comfortable and cozy 😌. The walls are adorned with various coconut tree 🌴 illustrations, easily reminding one of Singapore's signature dish made with coconut milk—Laksa 🍜.
✝️ Singapore Laksa $56
Kaya's signature dish, it's a hearty and substantial option for afternoon tea, especially at this price point 🤑. The laksa is topped with shrimp 🦐, half a soft-boiled egg 🥚, fish balls, fish slices, tofu puffs, bean sprouts, and water spinach. The noodles are a mix of oil noodles and rice noodles, enhancing the texture layers ⬆️. The coconut aroma combined with spices and a hint of spiciness 🌶️, with a squeeze of lime juice to elevate the freshness, makes this laksa a must-try 👍.
✝️ Avocado Five-Color Rice Paper Rolls $62
A healthy and delicious choice, each plate comes with six pieces. The thin and chewy rice paper wraps avocado, carrot 🥕, daikon, cucumber 🥒, and purple cabbage. While it might taste a bit dry on its own, dipping it in the accompanying mango sauce brings out a refreshing and sweet flavor 😋.
✝️ Malaysian Mango Juice with Mango Ice Cream +$12
This thirst-quenching and cooling mango specialty drink 🥭 combines mango juice with mango slush 🍧, topped with mango ice cream. The layered fresh and sweet mango flavor is hard to resist 🤤.

High-Quality Korean BBQ from Busan at Kai Tak
A friend invited me to this mall in Kai Tak, and I discovered that there are quite a few dining options here. This time, we chose to eat at this Korean BBQ restaurant.
When it comes to Korean BBQ, you can't miss the variety of appetizers, such as pumpkin puree, seaweed, kimchi, bean sprouts, spinach, etc. There are also refillable kimchi egg and corn cheese by the grill. For sauces, there are three options: lemon soy sauce, salt and pepper, and soybean paste.

The pork belly comes in two large pieces with a beautiful color and a good balance of fat and lean meat. Grill one side until golden and crispy before grilling the other side to render out the fat, resulting in a crispy and flavorful bite.
Pork Skin $88
The staff advised that the pork skin only needs to be grilled for about ten seconds on each side. It is marinated in soy sauce, making it very flavorful. The texture is smooth and bouncy, full of collagen.
Beef Short Ribs $280
The beef short ribs have evenly distributed marbling, making them visually appealing. The meat is tender and has a rich flavor.
