My Favorite Coffee Chain Has Arrived in Tsuen Wan

I'm thrilled that my favorite Japanese coffee chain, Komeda's Coffee, has finally arrived in Tsuen Wan. I still remember the first time I had their egg sandwich in Japan; it was a revelation, even for a chain store. The free toast that comes with a coffee purchase also left a lasting impression. A few years ago, when Komeda expanded to Hong Kong and opened in Whampoa, I couldn't wait to try it. The sandwiches were tasty, but they didn't quite match the wow factor I experienced in Japan. The new store in Tsuen Wan maintains the same quality for their company sandwiches as the Whampoa location. I still enjoy the subtle hint of Japanese mustard they add, which makes everything taste fresher. The Komeda burger features a thick patty that's juicy. The addition of Wasabi here too wins my heart. The Napoletana pasta is chewy and the tomato sauce is appetizing. However, it would be more satisfying with a few more slices of ham, and the presentation could use some work. There are also Hong Kong-exclusive siu mai, which are quite amusing. Of course, they're not of the highest standard and unlikely to impress the connoisseurs, but for an extra $10 per serving with a main dish, they're decent enough that I'm willing to pay for them. The cheesecake is fragrant enough, with a base that's not too dense, making it passable. When you order a main dish, you can get a small drink for an extra $20, or a large one for $26.
