Take a minibus from Tsuen Wan to the Pineapple Dam terminus at Shing Mun Reservoir. You don't have to go up the stairs, and it's not in the direction of the convenience store. Instead, walk along the road to the main dam on the east side. The road is flat and it's easy and comfortable to walk. Looking at the clear pond on my left and the mountains standing there, I felt like I was in the embrace of nature. Even just taking a walk around this beautiful Chengmen Pond is quite enjoyable. 🥰 But this time it is not a picnic trip, but a trip to the Three Mountains of Bizhen and Caomao. 🤪 After passing the main dam on the east side, walk about 20 meters along the right road and you will see the signage for Section 7 of the MacLehose Trail. As soon as you arrive, you will start walking up the endless ladder. The slope is quite steep and it is quite strenuous to walk up, but once you successfully climb up to Needle Hill, which is about 533 meters high, the view becomes open and Sha Tin and Shing Mun Reservoir are in sight. After a rest at the top of Zhenshan Mountain, we started to go down the mountain, along the stairs. It was a bit slanted but if we were careful, it was manageable. Going down to the mountainside, you will connect to the forestry road. The roads leading up to Caoshan are all concrete roads and are not difficult to walk on. When we reached the top of Grass Mountain, we didn’t take any special photos with the landmark column. We then followed the sign down to Lead Mine Pass, took a short break, went to the toilet, and ate a rice ball (be careful of monkey attacks 🐒), and then began the arduous journey to Sifang Mountain and Tai Mo Shan. At first there is a round of stairs, and then the road to Sifang Mountain also needs to be among the piles of stones, but the shapes of the stones are strange and the scenery is very open. If you keep walking along the road, you will reach the Sifang Mountain Pavilion. Continue up the mountain along the concrete road to the highest point of Tai Mo Shan (Tai Mo Shan Weather Station). After checking in, go down the mountain. At the end, there is Sister Lian’s teahouse for supplies and you can reward yourself with skewers of fish balls.
