Let's talk about the history of the ancient temple first. The Tin Hau Ancient Temple, also known as the Great Temple, was designated as a statutory monument in 2023. It was originally built during the Southern Song Dynasty (before 1266, the second year of Xianchun), and is the oldest and largest Tin Hau temple in Hong Kong, which sounds quite prestigious. Nowadays, it mainly worships the Heavenly Queen, and the most recent renovation took place in 2022. The large square in front of the ancient temple offers a distant view of the scenery around the Great Temple Bend, which is quite picturesque. Moreover, there are not many tourists on weekdays, only a few locals fishing here. The stone inscription behind the temple, dating back to the Xianchun Jiaxu year, or 1274, is also a statutory monument.
