Famed calligrapher Dong Yangzi's ink art graces the M+ facade

Every evening, the M+ building transforms into a flowing urban canvas, illuminating the Victoria Harbour skyline. Following the display of artist Pipilotti Rist's colorful giant hand video 'Ever Is Over All', a new video work 'Ink Pulse' has ascended onto the M+ facade. 'Ink Pulse' is a collaborative creation by renowned Taiwanese calligrapher Dong Yangzi and local new media artist Zhang Hanqian, who combine traditional ink with technology to generate art that showcases the rhythm between the lines and ink of Eastern calligraphy. Dong Yangzi is a pivotal figure in Taiwan's art scene, with a style that straddles the line between abstract painting and calligraphy. Her dynamic works and unique lines can be seen in the inscriptions at Taipei Station and the Kingstone Bookstore. From 2003 to 2010, she produced 100 pieces of calligraphy in running and cursive script, forming the 'Silent Etude' series.
