From Pak Tam Chung to Sham Chung: Nestled among the verdant mountains, discover hidden culinary delights

Sai Kung Country Park is surrounded by lush greenery and captivating scenery, yet few are aware of the hidden local delicacies such as tofu pudding and traditional Hakka dishes (like tea cakes and braised pork) and so on. First stop: Pak Tam Chung There is a snack kiosk at the entrance to Sai Kung Country Park, remember to stock up on enough drinks and snacks. Starting from Pak Tam Chung, head east along Tai Mong Tsai Road, turn left into Pak Tam Road, then continue forward, and the entrance to the Pak Tam Chung Family Trail will appear on the left. Second stop: Sheung Yiu From the hiking trail, walk slightly uphill along the Banyan North Corridor, and you will come to a fork in the road. Turn right through the jungle, and the view suddenly opens up, where you can see the Kau Pei Chau from Sheung Yiu. Third stop: Banyan Tree Bay Walk down and then turn left towards the Sheung Yiu Country Trail, and follow the signs to Banyan Tree Bay. Fourth stop: Sham Chung Follow the coastal path from Banyan Tree Bay to Sham Chung. Today, only a few scattered village houses in Sham Chung are still inhabited, one of which has a tea house famous for its Hakka braised pork and oyster pancakes (similar to oyster omelettes). Getting to Pak Tam Chung Take a taxi, bus 94 or 96R from the center of Sai Kung to Pak Tam Chung. Leaving Sham Chung The ferry service between Sham Chung, Ma Liu Shui, and Wong Shek operates two trips on weekdays and adds a third trip on weekends and public holidays (except for Wong Shek). You can walk from Sham Chung to Sai Sha Road (about 7 kilometers, 1.5 hours) and then take a bus to Sha Tin or Sai Kung.
