Causeway Bay｜Tin Hau Temple

💟The Tin Hau Temple in Causeway Bay was built by the Tai family, but the exact year of its construction is difficult to verify 💟It is said that the Dai clan found a red stone shaped like an incense burner on the shore of Causeway Bay, and they firmly believed that it was given by the Queen of Heaven, so they set up a shrine to worship it. As more and more fishermen came to burn incense, the Dai family raised funds to build a Tianhou Temple here. 💟The oldest existing cultural relic in Tin Hau Temple is an ancient bell. The year of the inscription on the bell is the 12th year of the Qianlong reign (1747). The inscription "Tin Hau Ancient Temple" on the main gate and the door couplets on both sides were erected during the reconstruction in the 7th year of the Tongzhi reign (1868). There are also plaques, couplets, incense burners, stone lions, stone tables and other cultural relics in the temple, all of which have been preserved since the Qing Dynasty. 💟The Tin Hau Temple is a two-entry building with side halls on both sides. The main hall is dedicated to the Tin Hau, Bao Gong and the God of Wealth. The temple roof is richly decorated. The front part has a ridge decoration with the theme of two dragons playing with a pearl, and the two ends are decorated with antiques and a giant fish. The back part has a Shiwan pottery ridge with pottery figures based on scenes from traditional Chinese opera. 💟The porcelain cutting technique used in the temple decorations and couplets is very rare in Hong Kong 💟Tin Hau Temple was listed as a historic site in 1982 #Hong Kong must-visit check-in spots
