A great Spanish restaurant @ Calle Ocho

Today is my good friend Jannis’ birthday and I wish her a happy birthday and good health. I would also like to add that I celebrated her birthday at the 3J1M dinner party last week and received Jessica’s wedding invitation and shared it with her. This night was truly filled with joy and happiness. The birthday girl likes Spanish food so we chose Calle Ocho in Causeway Bay to celebrate. This Spanish restaurant, which only opened in January this year, has two floors and a great dining atmosphere. We were also very satisfied with the quality of the food and will definitely go there next time. Everyone chose the non-alcoholic Sangria Sin Alcohol $60. The sweet orange juice flavor is a good choice for friends who don’t like drinking. Order a few tapas first to whet your appetite! This $80 deep-fried Spanish pepper got our unanimous praise. It was roasted to perfection and brought out the sweetness of the peppers to the fullest. It was delicious even with a simple seasoning of salt. Then we chose two flavors of croquettes! First try the Spanish ham croquettes $50. The crispy and delicious outer layer is not greasy at all, and the inside is full of dense dough mixed with salty and fragrant Spanish fire, which is very delicious. Another dish, Spanish mushroom croquettes for $45, is even more flavorful. The mushrooms inside really enhance the flavor of the croquettes, leaving your mouth full of mushroom aroma. It’s delicious. For seafood, we chose the garlic and chili boiled clams for $110, which is cooked with sweet and fresh large clams. The ultimate enjoyment is to dip the juice with crispy toast. The Garlic Olive Oil Prawns $180 contains several fresh prawns with heads and tails. The prawns are chewy, sweet and of good quality. The sauce full of shrimp oil is also a good partner for crispy toast. As for meat, there is Spanish black pork *unseen* steak with red peppers for $190. The texture of this black pork is soft and the meaty aroma is outstanding. It tastes even sweeter and more delicious when paired with pear red wine sauce. For the main course, we chose the traditional Spanish seafood risotto for $240. The portion was quite large and there was still some left over even though we shared it among the four of us! The rice is very rich with prawns, mussels and fresh clams. The rich seafood flavor permeates the rice and is appealing, but I would prefer it if the rice had more rice bones. Thanks to the birthday girl, we were given the Spanish dessert Churros for free at the restaurant. They also took an instant photo of us and put it in a carefully hand-painted birthday card, which also included a $100 restaurant cash voucher. The birthday girl was super happy. The quality of this Spanish restaurant is very good, and the service of the staff is very friendly and warm. I highly recommend friends who like Spanish food to give it a try.
