Hiking paradise｜Complete the Ngong Ping Trail in 4 hours!

The Ngong Ping Trail is approximately 5.7 kilometers long and is a path that connects the Ngong Ping Market on Lantau Island to Tung Chung, via the northeast slope of Maitreya Mountain. Originally a rugged mountain path, a passage had to be built along the mountainside to accommodate the construction of the Ngong Ping Cable Car for rescue, evacuation, and maintenance purposes, hence it is also known as the "Ngong Ping 360 Rescue Trail". However, as the construction site is within the country park, some sections of the trail are built with elevated wooden planks to preserve the natural environment and minimize the impact on the landscape, hence the trail is also known as a "plank road". The scenery along the Ngong Ping Trail is beautiful, with rich ecological landscapes, making it a popular hiking route. The Ngong Ping Trail, built entirely of wooden planks and designed to fit the natural terrain, gives off a quaint vibe. At first glance, it looks a bit like the mountain roads in ancient martial arts films, which is why the ancient and elegant Ngong Ping Trail often attracts many hiking enthusiasts to come and check it out! Ngong Ping Trail and Ngong Ping Cable Car run almost in balance. There are many stone steps in the initial section, and the section from the ground to the No. 3 cable tower rises sharply by about 300 meters in just one kilometer, but after passing the No. 3 cable tower, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of Tung Chung Bay and Hong Kong International Airport. Continuing to the No. 4 cable tower, you will pass the famous "Heavenly Ladder", which is a trail built by Ngong Ping 360. Continuing forward, you can reach the highest point of Ngong Ping Trail at the Maitreya Mountain Turning Station at the No. 5 cable tower. Climbing up here, you can see the endless sky and the balanced cable car cableway, which is quite unique. Finally, slowly walking down to the Ngong Ping exit, you will see the Tian Tan Buddha. But please note that some of the wooden planks on the boardwalk may not be very stable, so safety should be the top priority and it is recommended to hold onto the handrails while walking.
