Escape from the City, Hong Kong hiking spots!

Maclehose trail is one of the best hiking spot in Hong Kong, located in Tai Po district, the trail offer a total of 100 km hiking area divided in 10 sections , between parks, mountains, waterfalls and beaches, You can experience a pure escaping in the wild nature, fare from the city. The photo I made were toke to the 6 and 7 section of the trail, it toke us around half day to hike those two sections. You can choose to hike different sections in different days, it would be a very heavy task to finish all the 10 sections in one day, And the landscape is so beautiful, you will feel to have a stop in many different spots to take a photo or enjoy the view . Getting There - By taxy or personal car it will take 10 minutes riding from Prince Edward Mtr station. Attractions - nature, view, beaches and waterfalls Food & Restaurants - At the begin of the trail and between some of the sections there will be some local restaurants available and small shops selling drinks, but the choice will be very limited. #hiking #hongkong #weekendfun #beautifulview

The MacLehose Trail

From Tuen Mun’s So Kwun Wat Tsuen, taking the Maclehose trails sec 10, follow the signs to Thousand Lake / Reservoir Islands Viewpoint. We drove to So Kwun Wat Tsuen, where parking spaces are offered by the villagers for a price ($70 to $100). From here, it’s all paved road for about 45mins to 1 hour where you’ll reach a viewpoint with signboard showing another 1km to Reservoir Island viewpoint and a cubicle toilet next to it. If you’re travelling with young children or strollers, this may be your endpoint for the hike. But if you want a better view! Keep going, the remaining 1km are pretty straightforward in the woods, there’s a clear path, just watch out the roots and rocks. When you see the signboard of Thousand Lake/ Reservoir Islands viewpoint, the stairs are right next to it, just climb up and keep walking. You’ll know when you arrived. * Distance: approx. 7.7km round trip * Altitudes: 296m * Time: approx 2 hours 40 mins * Toilet: Public toilet before the starting point at the village; then cubicle toilet after an hour walk * Difficulties: ⭐️⭐️ (although mostly paved road, but it’s ascending/ inclines like 80% of the time) * Scenic: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ X #hongkongkids #familyhiking #hikingkids #familytime #hongkongmoms #hikinghk #nature #hikingtrails #hiking
