Hong Kong Flower Show opens in Victoria Park tomorrow

The 2023 Hong Kong Flower Show (Flower Show) will be held at Victoria Park (Victoria Park) from tomorrow (March 10) to March 19, from 9am to 9pm every day. The theme flower of this year's flower show is hydrangea, with the theme of "Beautiful Bloom, Full of Happiness". The flower show will display about 400,000 flowers, including about 40,000 hydrangeas. Citizens can enjoy the colorful world of flowers in the downtown area. This year's flower show has 225 participating organizations, including 72 exhibitors from ten countries, namely China, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. One of the highlights of the flower show is the brightly coloured three-dimensional hydrangea wall and flower bed. There are eight giant hydrangeas carefully inlaid from different plants, one of which is over two metres in diameter, showcasing their three-dimensional beauty. The hydrangea garden is planted with more than 1,200 pots of hydrangeas, and is sure to become a popular spot for citizens to enjoy the flowers and take photos. The central axis of the flower show venue is themed on the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter. It extends from the entrance on Xingfa Street to the entrance on Tang Street. Hydrangeas and installations full of seasonal colors are used to create flower beds with different seasons' scenery. Each flower bed has a completely different style and its own characteristics. The popular sea of ​​tulips will continue to be a hot spot for tourists to check in. A large area of ​​foxglove flowers has been added to the central lawn. The foxgloves have distinctive bell-shaped corollas and beautiful flower shapes, and are believed to be another highlight of the flower show. Another interesting attraction in the venue is the special hydrangea and edible plant garden, which will display a variety of special hydrangeas, including lace-shaped, spherical, single-petal and double-petal hydrangeas. Hydrangeas come in a variety of colors, including single colors, double colors, and gradient colors. The garden also features a hydrangea waterfall made of colorful hydrangeas and an orchid tunnel made up of thousands of phalaenopsis orchids. Another highlight of the flower show is the light and music show held at 7:30 and 8:30 every night. The garden landscaping on the central axis of the venue is combined with lighting and music effects, creating a different scene under the night sky. This year's flower show will continue to promote various environmental protection and waste reduction measures, and actively encourage all participating organizations, contractors, volunteers and citizens to participate in the practice of the "Three Use Principles", namely making the best use of materials, recycling waste and reusing, so as to achieve the goal of "Green Flower Show, Shared by the Whole City". To support environmental protection, the conference encourages visitors to bring their own water bottles and reusable shopping bags; QR codes will be provided in the venue for citizens to scan and download information such as venue maps, theme flowers and special attractions to achieve the purpose of waste reduction. In addition to hydrangeas and other flowers on display, the flower show also features carefully cultivated potted plants from local, mainland and overseas institutions, beautifully shaped floral arrangements, and colorful garden landscapes. The venue also has sales stalls selling flowers and gardening products. During the exhibition, the conference will hold a number of educational and entertainment activities suitable for the whole family to participate. The flower show is organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
