Overseas Chinese Town Ancient City Gualao Water Town Ecological Culture Tourism Resort is a brand new urban-rural integration and beautiful countryside innovation project launched by the Overseas Chinese Town Group. It is one of the key cultural and tourism construction projects in Guangdong Province in 2020. The project plans to invest 50 billion yuan, with the theme of 'freely flowing water town life', to transform 'Gualao Water Town' into the most beautiful Lingnan water town in China and a cultural ecological tourism resort benchmark for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The overall plan of the project covers an area of about 10 square kilometers, of which the main scenic area is about 3 square kilometers, including the core scenic area (containing three major groups), the agricultural cultural heritage revitalization area, and the Wing Chun cultural heritage revitalization area. In March 2023, Gualao Water Town Tourism Area was officially designated as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
