The Waterfront Park of Jarvenpaa

If you wish to travel outside Helsinki to see for example the cultural district of Tuusulan rantatie, I recommend you to visit the town of Jarvenpaa as well (actually in Finnish it’s Järvenpää so all the a letters have two dots on them). The town has a population of about 50000 people and it’s most known for the home of Finnish National compositor, Jean Sibelius which is located there. While in Jarvenpaa, I recommend you to visit the recently renovated Waterfront Park. There’s a few restaurants, public bathroom, playground for kids and many sports activities there. While in the park you can also see the sculpture called “Kolmisointu” (triad / common chord) consisting of three yellow 11 meter high sculptures designed by Rolf Westphal (1979). They’re nowadays the most recognizable landmarks of the town. You can get to Jarvenpaa very conveniently using the local train R from Helsinki. The train runs every 30 minutes and it takes 30 minutes train ride from the central station of Helsinki to Jarvenpaa.
