Old Town Heidelberg.

On a chilly morning, we had just arrived in Frankfurt. We fought through the fatigue of a night on the plane and went straight to Heidelberg. The pale blue sky, rows of neat cotton clouds, and the morning breeze on our faces woke us up a little. We admired the ancient and simple Heidelberg Stone Bridge along the quietly flowing Neckar River. The stone bridge is a Baroque-style building with nine arches. The two 28-meter-high round, tall, and strong white towers at the bridgehead are like loyal guards, permanently guarding this old stone bridge! Opposite the old stone bridge is the iconic building of the city, the reddish-brown Heidelberg Old Town. The old town was built in the 13th century and is the site of the imperial palace. It is located halfway up the mountain surrounded by green hills. It took 400 years to complete and is a mixture of Gothic and Baroque styles. The historical mottled traces on the outer walls of the old town show that it has been severely damaged many times due to war. Mark Twain once praised it as a building that is broken but still has the aura of a king! The entire Heidelberg Old Town is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with distinct colors. The red walls and white tiles of the buildings are like a Renaissance oil painting. As your vision slowly opens up, you can appreciate it slowly and be intoxicated. Further ahead is the Market Square. It was already past 10 am, and the restaurants, shops, bars, and stalls in the streets and alleys were opening for business. In the center of the square is the largest and oldest Church of the Holy Spirit in Heidelberg. The town hall next to it is as solid and lovely as a wooden house built with building blocks, without any sense of solemn oppression. Walking on the clean and tidy cobblestone road, you can see the retro and simple century-old European buildings with reddish-brown as the main color. They are neither beautiful nor stunning, but they give people a sense of peace and comfort. The aroma of bread and the rich and mellow aroma of chocolate fill the air. Sit down casually, lazily eat something, and experience the ancient and taste the modern at the same time!
