Gogol Street

Gogol Street is a famous commercial street in Nangang District, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. It was established in 1901 and has a history of over a hundred years. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, with the construction of the Middle East Railway, the embryonic form of Gogol Street began to take shape around the St. Nicholas Church Square in the center of Harbin. In 1902, to expand its business, the Qiulin Company moved its branch from Xiangfang District to the intersection of Dazhi Street and Gogol Street in Nangang District, and built a department store. Since then, many Russian businesses, pharmacies, and others have sprung up around the Qiulin Company. Gogol Street gradually began to solidify and prosper.
