Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre was established in October 1969 with investment from the Hanoi People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The theatre provides 300 seats and aims to promote Vietnam's thousand-year-old water puppetry cultural tradition. The art troupes nurtured by the theatre have also toured more than 40 countries around the world, making it a must-see show for foreign tourists when they come to Hanoi.
