The highest institution of learning during the Ly dynasty in Vietnam, it held the status of a Royal Academy and a National School, with regulations modeled after the Confucian temple in Qufu. It houses the 'Teacher of All Generations' plaque inscribed by Emperor Kangxi, which still exists today. The Temple of Literature is famous for the 'Doctoral Steles', where lively stone turtles proudly carry the meticulously carved steles of scholars. From ancient times to the present, students from all over Vietnam would visit the Temple of Literature during holidays to pray for academic improvement, to excel in examinations, and just yesterday, I encountered students taking graduation photos there.
