Unlocked the "Little Pig Trail" this weekend—a light hiking route hidden in the suburbs of Hangzhou that welds the romance of autumn along the way. We walked the Little Pig Trail in the opposite direction, starting at 12 noon, just in time to finish the Xixi Valley mountain slow trail before sunset 🌇. Highly recommend starting this route at noon. From the starting point, climbing step by step, the first thing that hits the eye is the yellow of the ginkgo trees. Then, turning a corner, the red of the chicken claw maple spreads out—not a gaudy bright red, but a warm caramel red, set against the distant tea fields, green and lush, red and mellow, like a spilled palette 🎨. The biggest surprise is the "Colorful Forest Tunnel" at sunset in the second half of the hike: sweetgum, chicken claw maple, and Chinese tallow trees crowd both sides of the trail, with yellow, orange, and red leaves layered together. Even the sunlight is dyed warm, walking in feels like stepping into autumn’s embrace. 📌 Hiking Tips: · Route: Starting at Gudun Road, passing through Majiawu - Fahua Temple - Hangzhou Dianzi University - Shirenwu - Yangjia Archway - Xixi Wetland Tianmu Mountain Road - Gudun Road. The whole route is 20-22 km (varies by app), takes 6-7 hours, difficulty ⭐⭐ (Beginner friendly) The Tianmu Mountain section is very long; we spent an hour and a half just on this part. If you don’t want to follow the whole route, you can take a taxi back to the start from Yangjia Archway. The highlights of the route are between Majiawu and Shirenwu. 🅿️· Parking: Navigate to Qianjiang Refrigeration Building, 6 RMB/hour, 48 RMB max per day 🎒· Gear: Wear sneakers 👟, bring a bottle of hot drink (the autumn wind is chilly) 🕖· Best time: Late November to early December (perfect timing to catch full autumn colors) No need to squeeze into West Lake, no need to fight for photo spots, this trail turns Hangzhou’s autumn into a gentle warmth you can step on and hold in your hands.
