Hupao—The Third Best Spring in the World

📍About the Attraction: Hupao Park, also known as Hupao Dream Spring, is located in the Xihu District of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Hupao's history dates back to 819 AD during the Tang Dynasty. Monk Xingkong settled here and built Guangfu Temple. Due to water scarcity, he once decided to leave, but in a dream, a divine figure told him that two tigers would move a spring to this location. The next day, he found clear spring water gushing out, hence the name "Tiger Running Spring" (Hupao). ✅Must-sees: Hupao Spring: The heart of the park, it's one of the three famous springs of West Lake, along with Longjing Spring and Yuquan Spring, and is known as the "Third Best Spring in the World." Many elderly people come to the park with large buckets to collect the water. Jigong Hall: A hall commemorating the well-known Song Dynasty monk, Jigong. Li Shutong Memorial Hall: Commemorates the modern art master Li Shutong, who became a monk at Hupao, taking the Buddhist name Hongyi. He was a renowned scholar and monk. 🌟Highlights: First, see the spring water (now you can only view the spring through glass). Second, explore the cultural history, walk the same paths as ancient scholars and poets, and admire the historical relics. 🚗Getting There: Take bus No. 318, 197, or 194 to Hupao Station. 🎟️Tickets: 15 CNY, free with a Hangzhou Park Card. 💗Other Tips: In late autumn and early winter, around the beginning of December, the red maple trees at Hupao are especially beautiful.
