Yue Fei Temple

Yue Fei Temple is a temple built in memory of Yue Fei. It was first built in the 14th year of Jiading in the Southern Song Dynasty (1222) and was originally called "Baozhong Yanfuchan Temple." It was later renamed "Zhonglie Temple" in the Ming Dynasty and was called Yue Fei Temple because Yue Fei was posthumously named King of E. Yue Fei Temple is located at the southern foot of Qixia Ridge in the present-day Xihu District of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is the burial place of Yue Fei's loyal bones and an important symbol of Yue Fei Temple culture. Yue Fei Temple has been rebuilt and renovated many times in history, and most of the existing buildings are of the Qing Dynasty. The main buildings of the temple include Zhonglie Temple, Qizhong Temple, and the cemetery. Zhonglie Temple is the main hall, where a statue of Yue Fei is enshrined. The statue is 4.45 meters high, wearing a purple python robe and a golden armor, showing Yue Fei's heroic spirit. Qizhong Temple is used to commemorate Yue Fei's parents and other family members. The cemetery is the resting place of Yue Fei's remains, surrounded by buildings such as the Pavilion of Loyalty, symbolizing Yue Fei's loyalty and dedication. Yue Fei Temple is not only a memorial place for Yue Fei but also an important tourist attraction. The buildings and layout in the temple reflect Yue Fei's life and his spirit of resisting the Jin Dynasty, attracting countless tourists to visit and pay their respects. Yue Fei Temple was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 1961.
