The most mysterious secret color porcelain, the epitome of celadon!

Secret color porcelain is as clear as ice and as warm as jade. It is the pinnacle of celadon from the Yue Kiln, and was mostly used for tribute and by the royal family. Lu Guimeng was the first to write a poem about it: "In the ninth autumn, the Yue Kiln opens in the wind and dew, and the color of a thousand peaks is captured." Secret color porcelain is a fine celadon from the Yue Kiln, fired in porcelain saggars under reducing conditions. Only celadon from the Yue Kiln that meets three conditions can be called secret color porcelain. It is usually fired by an official kiln; used by the Wuyue royal family or for tribute; and of high quality, with beautiful shapes and glaze. Secret color porcelain is the epitome of celadon, and is named for being offered to the imperial court. Xu Yin wrote a poem about it: "Skillfully cut like the bright moon dyed in spring water, lightly spun like thin ice holding green clouds." The brown cloud-patterned oil lamp, lidded jar, and incense burner unearthed from the tomb of the Shuiqiu family are three important pieces, and are the epitome of late Tang secret color painted porcelain. They are also the treasures of the Wuyue Culture Museum. To meet the needs of tribute and foreign exchanges, the Wuyue Kingdom set up official kilns in the central production area of the Yue Kiln. Cixi Shanglin Lake and the area in front of the Shangyu Kiln Temple were the core production areas of the Tang and Song Yue Kiln. The provincial porcelain kiln office at Shanglin Lake not only had a yamen called the "Shisi", but also low-level kiln officials. "After the brocade robes were given to the meritorious officials, they went to Longshan to drink."
