Dong Tiao Creek

Dong Tiao Creek originates from Majian Hill in the southern foothills of Tianmu Mountain in Lin'an. The section from the source to Qingshan Lake, which flows through Old Yuhang, is considered the main source and is called Nan Tiao Creek. Downstream, it becomes Zhong Tiao Creek and Bei Tiao Creek. There has been a saying since ancient times: 'The Tiao waters split into three, the grand scenery of Yuhang lies in the south of the city.' The Xixian Datang is an ancient hydraulic project that began in the Eastern Han Dynasty and was completed in the Song Dynasty. Located on the right bank of the Dong Tiao Creek, it serves as an important flood control barrier in the northern part of Hangzhou. It has always been a significant hydraulic project, named Xixian Datang because it is located to the west of Hangzhou and the embankment is perilous. In the evening, with intermittent rain and sunshine, walking along Tiao Creek, one encounters misty rain and fog, and even the splendid Nanhu sunset, adding a charming scene to the landscape. The gentle evening breeze and the setting sun's afterglow blend with the ethereal outline of Nanhu Park in the sunset.
