You don't need to leave the city to climb a mountain and overlook West Lake

Wushan is located in the southeast of West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The mountain range stretches and undulates, extending into the urban area, with the Qiantang River on the left and West Lake on the right. It is formed by the continuous small mountains of Baoyue, Emei, Qianshan, Ziyang, Qibao, and Yunjue. The mountain body extends into the urban area, and the height of the mountains does not exceed 100 meters. In the past, fishermen would dry their nets here after fishing at sea, hence the name Liangwang Mountain (Drying Net Mountain). During the Spring and Autumn period, it was a contested area between Wu and Yue, hence the name Wushan. There is also a saying that it is related to Wu Zixu, with the name Wu being a corruption of Xu, and because there is a temple of Zixu on the mountain, it was called Xushan. During the Five Dynasties period, there was a City God Temple on the mountain, so it was also called City God Mountain. In the Tang Dynasty, it was often called Qingshan (Green Mountain). Today, it is commonly known as Wushan. Its east, north, and northwest sides overlook the streets and alleys, while the south side offers a distant view of the Qiantang River and the flat fields on both banks. Climbing Wushan still gives a sense of soaring above, and one can fully appreciate the beauty of Hangzhou's rivers, mountains, lakes, and city, making it a famous scenic spot in Hangzhou.
