Eugène Boudin was the first French landscape painter to depict outdoor scenes. Born into a family of sailors, he studied painting under Millet. Known for his depiction of expansive skies on large canvases, he was hailed as 'the king of the skies'. In 1857, Boudin met the then 17-year-old Monet and persuaded him to give up caricature. Monet gradually developed a love for bright colors and the representation of light and shadow on water. Auguste Renoir was an important painter of the French Impressionist movement. In the mid-1880s, he broke with Impressionism and became famous for his female subjects. He was known for his abundant light and saturated colors. With vivid and transparent colors, he expressed the trembling of sunlight and air and the cheerful atmosphere. Camille Corot was a member of the Barbizon school. His work traced back to the tradition of Neoclassicism and foreshadowed the plein air luminism of Impressionism. He spent his childhood near Rouen in Normandy, which fostered his love for nature. In 1848, he was elected a member of the Salon's administrative committee, which had a beneficial impact on the innovative Impressionism movement. Eugène Le Poittevin's paintings always attracted the public. He was one of those who drew artists to the beaches of Étretat, focusing on refining his images. The realism of his scenes did not completely abandon the value of contemplation. After participating in two Impressionist exhibitions, Lepic left the movement. His paintings often lacked detail and did not become recognized as a great painter. He enjoyed a wealthy upper-class life and was an outstanding astronomer and sculptor.
