A glimpse of Xiling Seal Engravers' Society

In 1904, four young men who loved seal carving (Ding Fuzhi, Wang Fuan, Wu Yin, Ye Weiming) bought this piece of land near Xiling Bridge of Solitary Hill in West Lake with their own money in the turbulent society. They did their best to build pavilions, established the seal society, collected inscriptions, calligraphy, seals, and cultural relics, and vowed 'to be forever social property, not private property', just for their beloved seal carving and calligraphy to have a place to settle down, and for those with the same hobbies to have a place to communicate. With the purpose of 'preserving inscriptions, studying seal learning, and including calligraphy and painting'. Since then, it has gathered seal scholars and masters of calligraphy and painting from all ages. Wu Changshuo, Li Shutong, Huang Binhong, Ma Yifu, Feng Zikai, Wu Hufan, Shang Chengzuo, Shen Yinmo, Pan Tianshou, Fu Baoshi, Zhao Puchu, Wu Zuoren, Qi Gong, Ye Qianyu, Li Kuchan, Huang Zhou and others. The society is well-known at home and abroad, and is known as the 'research center of seal learning' and 'the first famous society in the world'. The pavilions, halls, towers, pavilions, museums, huts, rooms, houses, and towers of Xiling Seal Engravers' Society are arranged according to the mountain situation and integrated with the natural environment. The design and construction of the garden has turned the ideal world into the real world.
