Hallstatt is known as the most beautiful lakeside town in the world and is located on the west bank of Lake Hallstatt. It has the oldest salt mine in the world. Legend has it that prehistoric people mined the salt mines here as early as the Neolithic Age thousands of years BC. Lake Hallstatt is one of the most famous salt lakes in Austria, surrounded by the Alps. We came to this must-see tourist destination in early July and stayed overnight in the town. You can appreciate Hallstatt at different times, from early morning, sunrise, noon, sunset to evening, and the feeling is very different.
