Maroon Bells

The Maroon Bells are two iconic mountain peaks—Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak—located in the Elk Mountains of Colorado, near the town of Aspen. They're among the most photographed mountains in North America due to their dramatic, jagged shapes and the stunning reflection they cast in Maroon Lake. Maroon Peak stands at 14,163 ft (4,317 m), and North Maroon Peak at 14,019 ft (4,273 m). Late spring through fall, especially mid-September to early October for peak fall colors. Hiking, photography, nature walks, camping, and in the winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing (though access is limited). It's part of the White River National Forest. From mid-May to late October, access by car is restricted during the day—you have to take a shuttle bus from Aspen Highlands.

Maroon Bells

If you're looking for a #wintergetaway , it's hard to do better than Aspen. The slopes are topnotch of course and I love being able to watch the sunset before skiing down the runs for fireworks and a bottle of wine. As a plus, take a drive over to see the Maroon Bells. Fabulous any time of year, they're very special indeed during winter.
