Guiyang Xiputuo Temple, formerly known as Baiyun Temple, was built before the sixth year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1667 AD) and has a history of more than 300 years. In order to demonstrate the great compassion of Guanyin Bodhisattva and to complete the four major temples of Guanyin Bodhisattva in the east, south, west and north, the Baiyun Ancient Temple was designated as the temple of Guanyin Bodhisattva - named Xiputuo Temple. The temple faces south and has a square and archway in front, and natural stone wall sculptures built against green mountains and clear waters behind. The main buildings on the central axis include the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Hall of Great Compassion, the Hall of the Great Sage, the Sutra Library, and the Hall of Reclining Buddha. On the left and right sides are the bell tower, drum tower, Ksitigarbha Hall, the Hall of the Guardians of the Dharma, the Hall of Medicine Buddha, the Hall of Amitabha, the Zen hall, the lotus pond, the Bodhi Bridge, etc. The temple is not too big, with green tiles and red walls against green mountains and white clouds, giving people a sense of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle.
