Recommended Hotels in Guangzhou: Checking In to a "New" Hotel in the Old City

After living abroad for 11 years, I haven't been back to Guangzhou for 7 years. The city has developed so fast that even I, a native "Guangzhouer," feel a sense of familiarity mixed with unfamiliarity. This time, I returned with the mindset of a tourist, so of course I had to choose 1–2 interesting hotels to check in to and experience the "tourist" vibe. So, I chose the Yuexiu Hotel next to Yuexiu Park in the old city. The hotel was originally built in 1960 and has been renovated twice. Now, it's under the Hilton Curio Collection brand. The hotel has preserved its original exterior, but the interior has undergone a major renovation, incorporating a large number of Cantonese elements, which is why I chose it 👍. Although there is no urban skyline like in Zhujiang New Town, the convenient location of the old city makes it very easy to get around. It is close to popular tourist destinations such as Yuexiu Park and Beijing Road Pedestrian Street. The subway, buses, and even taxis are very convenient. What surprised me the most was the layout of the room. The room type I stayed in had a living room, kitchen, and washing machine. The facilities were complete and the layout was reasonable, making it suitable for short-term tourist stays and business travelers. It gave me a feeling of "being at home," and the Cantonese elements interspersed throughout made me feel that it was very well-designed 👍. The room key I received was "Miss Xiguan," which I could take home with me. Haha, it's a nice souvenir! I also had dinner and a buffet breakfast here. There were many varieties, and the taste and presentation were both okay. I think it's pretty good for a hotel restaurant.
