South China Botanical Garden, CAS

The South China Botanical Garden (SOUTH CHINA BOTANICAL GARDEN, CAS) is affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and is one of China's important research institutions for plant science and ecological science. Formerly known as the Sun Yat-sen University Institute of Agriculture, Forestry and Botany, the South China Botanical Garden was founded in 1929 by the renowned botanist, Academician Chen Huanyong. In 1954, it became affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and was renamed the South China Institute of Botany, CAS. In October 2003, it was renamed the South China Botanical Garden, CAS. In 2008, the South China Botanical Garden was rated as a National AAAA Tourist Attraction by the National Tourism Administration.
