Nanhu Amusement Park is upgrading its facilities.

The park opened in September 1985, closed for renovations in July 2023, and reopened in January 2025. Old Guangzhou residents from 90 years ago should be familiar with Nanhu Amusement Park. Two years ago, we lamented the decline of a once glorious era. In '23, it closed its doors for renovations, and in less than two years, it has reopened its gates, once again becoming a paradise for future generations of children. It's back! Here's a summary of my half-day experience. 🙋🏻‍♂️ First, the downsides: ▪️ Was it opened too early? Perhaps they wanted to give people staying in or visiting Guangzhou a new place to visit during the New Year. Some of the park's landscaping and certain areas are still awaiting completion. ▪️ Even during the trial operation in January when there weren't many people, the wait time for the StarCraft ride was quite long. I wonder if the park will increase capacity or find ways to improve the waiting experience when it gets crowded. ▪️ Expensive food The prices at the restaurants and food carts are a bit high. I wouldn't consider a CNY 28 ice cream, but a CNY 10 cola is acceptable. 😂 ▪️ Extra charges for amusement activities The wristband is for an interactive project. Unless you're really interested in earning points and checking in, you can skip it. It doesn't affect the overall fun. ▪️ Inconvenient parking I didn't drive, but I heard many drivers complaining about the distance from the parking lot to the amusement park. The park should consider how to shorten the distance or improve services. 💁‍♀️ What I liked: 🔘 Advanced facilities The amusement rides are top-notch in Guangzhou. New park, new equipment, advanced in both technology and design. Except for the Star Trek Journey, where the image quality needs improvement, I was very satisfied with the other rides. 🔘 NPCs The NPCs walking around the park are a highlight. Whether you have a wristband or not, you can collect cards and take photos with them. They add a lot of fun to the experience. 🔘 Convenient location Several large amusement parks are located in Panyu and Huadu districts, but Nanhu is in Baiyun District, which is relatively convenient for city residents. It takes about an hour by bus, saving travel time and allowing for more playtime with kids. 📝 The park isn't very big, half a day is enough. I entered the park at 2pm and left after sunset. The scenery before sunset was beautiful. Don't say I didn't remind you to take a ride on the small train, roller coaster, or space elevator to watch the sunset. It's stunning! 🅿️ There's still much room for improvement in service and park planning. I believe it will get better with time.
