Shamian Church

Shamian Christ Church was a church established by the British Anglican Church in the Shamian Guangzhou British Concession for the exclusive worship of foreigners, located on Shamian Street No. 5. The location is on the western end of Shamian Island, under the management of the Hong Kong and Guangdong Diocese of the Chinese Anglican Church, and has always been presided over by British priests, with services conducted in English. Shamian Church is a rare example of a well-preserved century-old Christian building in Guangzhou. After the Second World War, the Chinese government reclaimed the concession, and the church was handed over to the management of the South China Diocese of the Chinese Anglican Church. After the resumption of religious activities, it was known as Shamian Assembly Hall.
