'Beauty in Harmony' —— Historical and Cultural Exhibition of Straits-born Chinese in Singapore and Malaysia

Last September, the 'Beauty in Harmony —— Historical and Cultural Exhibition of Straits-born Chinese in Singapore and Malaysia', co-hosted by the Overseas Chinese Museum and the Guangdong Overseas Chinese Museum, was held at the Guangdong Overseas Chinese Museum. This exhibition, the first introduced by the Guangdong Overseas Chinese Museum in cooperation with the Overseas Chinese Museum, mainly showcases the historical culture of the Straits-born Chinese in the Singapore and Malaysia region. The culture of Straits-born Chinese is the result of the collision, dialogue and fusion of overseas Chinese with local ethnic cultures and Western cultures. It is a product of cross-cultural exchanges, harmonious but different, beautiful in harmony, and has the characteristics of cultural diversity. The exhibition is divided into three parts: 'Maritime Silk Road Pearls', 'Diverse Fusion', and 'Outstanding Talents'. It displays about 200 historical pictures and photos of ancient books and artifacts, and 92 sets of physical exhibits, including the short swords worn by Straits-born Chinese, daily used jewelry, tableware, Nyonya Kebaya costumes, etc., which comprehensively display the social life scene of the Straits-born Chinese community.
