According to relevant information, the church was originally built during the British and French Concession period in Shamian. The French Consulate in Guangzhou funded its construction in 1889 during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. It mainly served the staff of the French Consulate and French expatriates in Guangzhou. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. The entrance is Gothic in style. A Madonna Hill is built on the south side, where the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes is placed.
