Simaguan Life Exhibition.

The Simaguan Life Exhibition is on display in the former residence of Sima Guang in Guangshan County, Xinyang City, Henan Province. Sima Guang (1019-1086), courtesy name Junshi, pseudonym Yusou, was also known as Sushui Xiansheng. He was born in Sushui, Xiayang, Shanzhou (now Xiayang, Shanxi Province) and grew up in Guangshan, Guangzhou (now Guangshan County, Henan Province). He was a politician, historian, and writer during the Northern Song Dynasty. Sima Guang passed the imperial examination in 1038. He successively held the positions of Grand Counselor, Hanlin Academician, and Imperial Censor. In 1066, he completed the first eight volumes of the Zizhi Tongjian, which covers the period from the Warring States to the Qin Dynasty. After Emperor Shenzong ascended the throne, Sima Guang was promoted to Hanlin Academician and strongly opposed Wang Anshi's reforms, emphasizing that the ancestral laws should not be changed. After Emperor Zhezong ascended the throne, Empress Dowager Gao listened to politics and summoned Sima Guang back to the court. He served as the Left Deputy of the Imperial Secretariat and the Minister of the Imperial Secretariat, and presided over the court. He rejected the New Party, abolished the new law, and died of illness in 1086, eight months after becoming the prime minister. He was 68 years old. He was posthumously awarded the title of Grand Preceptor and Duke of Wenguo, and his posthumous name was "Wenzheng".
