Be sure to book Nasrid Palace at least a month in advance

#celebrateit Many different sections within Alhambra complex are amazing—check out the earlier posts of mine. But the true highlight has to be Nasrid Palace. In fact it’s also the reason why it’s strongly recommended to buy the ticket to Alhambra complex at least a month in advance. Do buy from official website, coz third party website tend to sell it 3x the price. If you do run into the situation where tickets are all sold out, try your luck at 12am each night. That was how I got mine. Nasrid Palace has so many breathtaking features that I’d be sharing them in two posts: 1) major spatial structure; 2) decoration/ornamentations (in the next post). There are many patios and water elements used in the palace to enhance tranquility, for example, the Court of the Myrtles, with its long reflective pool framed by lush greenery and symmetrical arcades; or the Court of Lions, with a marble fountain supported by twelve sculpted lions. These courtyards were said to serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, cooling the ambience for the sultans and their guests. Other features of the Nasrid palaces include horseshoe arches, latticed windows, horseshoe arches, and muqarnas (stalactite-like carvings), which creates beautiful light and shadow in the buildings.
