[Aomori/Goshogawara] The impressive Tachineputa

Tachineputa is a spectacular summer festival held every August in Goshogawara, Aomori Prefecture. This festival is one of the most representative festivals in Aomori, along with the Nebuta Festival in Aomori City, but there is a big difference between the two. The biggest difference is that Tachineputa, as its name suggests, is a huge lantern that is over 20 meters tall. On the other hand, Nebuta are often wide, doll-shaped lanterns with a lower height, so Tachineputa's overwhelming height and presence stand out. In Goshogawara, construction was carried out to bury the electric wires in the city underground in order to parade the huge Tachineputa lanterns. This allowed the Tachineputa to move majestically through the city without being obstructed by obstacles.
